Succot – 5777

https://youtu.be/e14slbyOrME Every year, during Succot, Kibbutz Sa’ad celebrates hi lights  from the past year. There is always a movie that is presented. Yedidya and Roi wrote the script, filmed and edited the film. This year we got new roofs because they were made from asbestos. If a kassam fell on them, wouldn’t be a good seen. The main gate was also moved because of safety reasons. We can leave through the old gate with a special phone app. The house in the beginning is our house. Ron and I appear at the end for a slight second. We waving a swimming noodle. Enjoy! Share this:TweetMoreEmailPocketShare on...

Erev Yom Kippur – 5777

https://www.facebook.com/yedidya.weisel/posts/1445085118839473 My son, Yedidya, shared this vedio on Facebook this morning. I don’t understand all the words but the song and performer are very moving. I remember the day Yedidya and Roi shot  this vedio. I asked Yedidya one day, “So what did you to today?” He answered, “Roi and I had an all day shoot. We followed this performer around all day and shot a vedio. It was a very special experience.” He was very צנוע – tzanuah – modest about it, like it was  no big deal. But for the Mama, it’s a BIG DEAL! Check out the drone shot at the end. They even bought a drone! I thought it was very special vedio to share Erev Yom Kippur. Enjoy! גמר חתימה טובה   Share...

PTDS with a Little Humor

I called Yedidya at 4:30 this morning because I knew he was guarding. He answers the phone. Yedidya: (speaking in a whisper)  “I can’t really talk right now. I am in the middle of shooting.” I hear chickens in the background. Me: “What are you shooting, chickens?” Yedidya: “No, people.” I quickly hang up. The chicken koops are outside the fence. He’s had problems with thefts around the chicken koops when he’s been on gaurd duty, but he has never shot anyone before. Me: “Hey, Ron. Do you know Yedidya is shooting people by the chicken koops right now?” Ron: “Yeah, he’s shooting a film with Roi.” OH! Could someone give me a break! With the resent security situation, kassams, us...

Mom, There’s Been a Pigua – We are OK

9:15, yesterday morning: As I’m driving my Mom to her morning actives in the Kibbutz, my phone rang. It’s Chanan. He is calling from work in Gush Etzion. I am taking my Mom to see the beautiful flowers in the back garden. Chanan: Mom, there’s been a pigua. I slow down. Need to pay attention. Me: Where? 2 dings on the phone. Why even bother looking, I’m getting it first hand from Chanan. He speaks slow and calmly. Chanan: Kiryat Arba. ב״ה, we are all OK. I called home to lock the doors. There is a lock down in Kiryat Arba. An Arab jumped the fence. Entered the Kirya. He went into a house. Shots have been fired. People injured. He’s getting this over the security radio as he is guarding at the gate in Kafar Etzion. I hang up. Call Ron....

Sadness Followed by Joy

https://www.facebook.com/sbeker1/posts/10153726928816243 Yesterday was like Yom HaZikaron. After Wednesday night’s terrible terrorist attack Israel was thrust into instant mourning. The radio played sad songs and the Nation mourned the 4 victims, who’s lives were snuffed out in an instant. As I posted the last post. I came across the above post on Facebook. It brought tears  to my eyes. You mean somebody actually cares about us. Thank You. As I was writing the previous post, there was tank fire far away in Gaza. Here we are living in this surreal world. I am writing about beautiful flowers and there’s tank fire in Azza. And people being killed in terrorist attacks. There are a lot of Shu-Shu activities – -שו-שו – activities that...
