Beautiful Words for Bubbie Tobee

Bubbie Tobee   This is the beautiful Eulogy that Ron gave at the funeral of his Mother.   So, what will I miss most about my mom. What I think that I will most miss with my mom are the Divrei Torah that I always enjoyed sharing with her. My mom always enjoyed telling me about the latest shiur that she had gone to, and to relate the message that she got from the lesson. And I knew that I also could always share with my mom some great dvar Torah that I just got excited by and had to share with her. About three weeks ago, the last time that we visited my mom at her retirement home, I played for her a shiur from Rabbi Jonathan Sacks that was about 10 minutes on Parshat Eikev titled The Power of Gratitude – His talk was exactly my mom and she absolutely ate...

Bubbie Tobee Paints a Rainbow

As we were driving into Jerusalem from Efrat there was a beautiful rainbow on my left. I pointed it out to Ron. It was as if Bubbie Tobee was saying good morning. By the time we arrived at Elaine’s, I had a title for a blog. Bubbie Tobee Paints a Rainbow. Bubbie Tobee was always busy painting the world with  her beautiful thoughts and stories. Today she was busy painting rainbows. Hashem gives all kinds of gifts. One just has to know how to receive and slowly unwrap them. Today I unwrapped a special one. This is the wonder I found inside. As I settled myself comfortably in Gideon’s room, I heard the first beautiful sounds of prayer coming from the next room. First Shel started Pesukai Dezimrah. Then the first Mourner’s Kadish. Ron davened...

A Very Special Lady

Baruch Dyan Emmet – ברוך דין  אמת – Bubbie Tobee and me, 2 1/2 weeks ago.   My mother-in-law, Tobee Weisel, died on Shabbat, Chayai Sarah – חיי שרה at 90 years old. She was a very special person in my life. Mom, most recently known as Bubbie Tobee, has been in  my life since I was 16, 46 years. Do the math. She always welcomed me with a kiss and a warm smile. I can count on one hand how many disagreements we had. She was a wonderful support. When I was 17, she took me to Dede Harman to put on make-up. Mom bought beautiful clothes for me. When I was 19, she convinced everyone to alow me to buy a $400.00 wedding  dress  that I just had to have. She encouraged me to give birth naturally and to breastfeed. She filled me with all her love for...
