Hey Mom, I’m OK – Again

3:16 pm – Phone rings. It’s Chanan.

“Don’t tell me. Another Pigua.”, I said.

“Mom, listen, it just happened. I went to the bathroom near Rosa (a restaurant) in case there was a pigua. I was almost at the bus stop and I heard gunshots. I put my hat on (remember he’s in security) and went to help. A few meters from where I usually stand at the bus stop lay a woman with stab wounds and a dead mechabel – מחבל – terrorist. I was just about to help the woman but I stood down because a chovesh – חובש – medic came and started to help her.

3:25 pm – “Ding” – pigua in Gush Etzion. Woman, 20, in serious condition. Terrorist dead.

4:01 pm – Chanan calls from Kiryat Arba. “I’m  home.” B”H

5:20 pm – As I am writing this blog, Chanan  calls. The girl died from her wounds. ברוך דיין האמת

This is 1 of 3 piguim – terrorist attacks today.

What will be? What will be?

Danny Gordis wrote a book about Israel entitled “if a place can make you cry.” Every time I read your posts my heart weeps for you all. I know you are there because you love it–and that’s the meaning of his book. Despite the piguim, despite the pachad, Israel is home. Stay safe. And stay strong.
